Music and entertainment can be the highlight of your wedding reception. There are a number of things to consider when choosing your wedding entertainment.

1. Timing: Allow plenty of time to book your wedding entertainment. Some professional wedding musicians, bands and DJ's can be sometimes booked for up until a year. The greater time that you allow yourself the greater selection in entertainment that will be available to you.

2. Try before you buy : Make sure that you take the time to listen to your potential wedding entertainment. If possible go to one of their performanaces. Many professionals will also have a demo of their work available.

3. Venue Compatibility: Consult your wedding reception venue to ensure that they have the facilities such as sound and lighting, to cater for your choice of entertainment. Many venues may have restrictions. There may be extra costs with set-ups for outdoor venues. You need to make sure that there is sufficient room at your venue for your choice of wedding entertainment to set up and perform.

4. Communication: Consult the musicians or DJ that you have chosen with regard to your song preferences. This also includes your traditional first dance and bridal party entrance songs. They may need to prepare or source the music. The better prepared they are the smoother the night will go. Make sure your special requests include the name of the artist as there maybe different versions of the music that you want.

5. Get it in Writing: Any agreement that you have made with your wedding entertainment should be made in writing. This includes performance duration, number of breaks and over time costs. Any stipulations concerning liability should also be included.

6. Confirmations: Make sure that you get a confirmation of your booking in writing. this should include the date and total cost. If you have paid a deposit make sure that you obtain a recepit and that it states the outstanding amount.

7 Directions: Stay in contact with your wedding entertainment. Ensure that they have the address of the venue as well as directions to the venue. This will ensure that they are puctual and that no miscommunication concerning the correct venue is made.

If you have addressed this list than you should have no problems on your wedding day. You will be free to enjoy the music with your family and friends.
