What Makes Milwaukee A Fun Place To Visit

When deciding upon where to go during your vacation, you may be tempted to go with some of the usual destinations. Disneyworld, Las Vegas, and California are always safe choices. But the problem with these popular tourist destinations is that everyone is already heading to one of these places.

You have more important things to do during your vacation then losing your time and energy struggling with the crowds. Why be around thousands of other loud and hungry tourists? When there is a greater demand from tourists, the costs of the hotel and rental car increase and can become quite expensive.

But what if you could spend your vacation in a more relaxed atmosphere where you did not have to fight people for the basics? How about lounging on the shore of one of the biggest lakes in the world with all of the amenities of a large city but without the headaches? Milwaukee is just such a place.

Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin and situated conveniently on the shores of Lake Michigan. All summer long festivals line the streets offering people great foods and tons of activities to choose from.

Cathedral Square is one of the focal points of festival activity. It is located only a few blocks from the lake and is surrounded by a host of hip restaurants, bars and shops. Free concerts are offered in the summertime allowing people a chance to dine on the local culture at a price anyone can afford. It is host to Bastille Days which is one of the many festivals that take place during the summer in Milwaukee. In the wintertime, Cathedral Square is illuminated by thousands of lights offering people a romantic atmosphere in which to stroll down.

The Milwaukee County Zoo is home to over 3000 animals and a host of endangered species. It is a great place to take children with its famous petting zoo and educational programs. There is even a cross-country skiing trail for the adults.

The Milwaukee Art Museum is a favorite for people with even the most discerning of tastes. Situated near the lakefront, the museum offers a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures, and photography for visitors to admire. There is a lower level cafe so you need not go anywhere to find great food at reasonable prices. The museum also allows a number of dancers and performers to display their talents on weekends and some week days.

You probably didn't think before that Milwaukee was an interesting place to take a vacation. However, it has many activities to offer and can be very relaxing. Don't be tempted to go for the hype of common vacation destinations. The hype is mostly a result of bigger advertising budgets for the popular destinations. Milwaukee can be a hassle- free vacation. It is a wonderful options that could be as fun, if not more fun, then the regular hot spots. Place Milwaukee, Wisconsin on your list of vacation destinations.
